Gainingtitle sponsorship from Italian utilities company WithU, RNF Racing will field 15-time MotoGP race winner Andrea Dovizioso and Moto3 graduate Darryn
Updated Thursday, January 29, 2015, 1809 [IST] Japanese two-wheeler giant and runner up of 2014 MotoGP World Championship, Yamaha has unveiled their 2015 livery. They have also revealed all sponsor and partners for their 2015 title hopes. Present at the event was the entire Yamaha MotoGP team with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. Just like in 2014 Movistar continues to be the main sponsor for Yamaha factory team. The unveiling of 2015 livery was held in Madrid, Spain amidst journalists and MotoGP enthusiasts. They MotoGP riders then sat down to answer questions. Lin Jarvis, Movistar Yamaha, Principal was first to comment. He was ecstatic that Yamaha has the service of two great world champions in their paddock. They are the best riders and have proven that by finishing second and third in 2014 championship. Jorge Lorenzo when asked what are the chances of winning another MotoGP championship, he commented that it is possible. The Spaniard claimed that he has been training hard for the upcoming season and it has been the hardest he has ever trained. He believes if he starts the year strong he will finish the year strong. Valentino Rossi on the other side commented that he focused on improving bike feel and staying close with the top three. The Italian managed this very well last year by finishing second in the championship. The nine time world champion said he has set his goal higher for 2015 and is looking forward to compete with Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo. The 2015 Movistar Yamaha looks more or less similar in its typical dark blue and white livery. This year, however, the white seems to be lesser than on the 2014 MotoGP bike. Also revealed were new sponsor Abarth, Cromax and Descente for 2015.
Withworld super bikes having switched to 1000cc regulations in 2004, focus for the MotoGP filter-down developments were moving towards the increasingly racy R1 later in the decade, starting with 2009’s crossplane-crank design that brought MotoGP tech to the street. With the 2015 R1 (pictured), Yamaha finally turned its superbike into much
The Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team launched its 2015 season today with teammates Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo unveiling their new livery to the world’s media at the headquarters of title sponsor Telefónica in Madrid, Spain before settling down to speak about their title hopes for this year. We are once again fortunate to have two great champions in the team and two of the best riders in the world Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. Lin Jarvis Joining Rossi and Lorenzo at the launch was the president of Telefónica España, Luis Miguel Gilpérez along with General Manager of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd’s Motorsport Division, Kouichi Tsuji, the Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing Srl, Lin Jarvis, and Movistar Yamaha MotoGP’s Team Director, Massimo Meregalli. The 2015 Yamaha YZR-M1 retains the familiar overall dark blue and white colour scheme with a revised and resized Movistar logo and a refreshed livery. Also presented were the Team’s new partners Abarth, the FCA Group’s prestigious, sports oriented brand and Cromax, the global coatings brand for refinish body-shops. Abarth and Cromax were not the only new faces as Japanese technical clothing manufacturer Descente joins as the clothing provider for the team. Following a photo session both Rossi and Lorenzo took questions from the assembled media on the new machine and their hopes for the upcoming season with Rossi chasing his 10th World Championship title and 5th for Yamaha and the Doctor’ finishing second overall last year while Lorenzo looks to get off to a better start this year compared to a disastrous first half of the 2014 season. Rossi and Lorenzo ready to get on track in Sepang next week With the first official test of 2015 scheduled to take place at the Sepang International Circuit next week 4th-6th Feb, both Rossi is excited to see the progress of the Yamaha engineers on the new M1. He said, “To present the bike and team means that a new season is about to start. The desire to start a new challenge is really huge, especially after the positive end of the 2014 season. Finishing second in the world championship was important, but this year the goal is even higher. Yamaha have worked so hard during the winter, and me too. I am in good shape, I feel good, I'm training a lot and I'm ready to begin the hard work at the Sepang test. The new bike is really beautiful; I really like it. Now I want to meet up with my team and work with all of them to achieve the best possible results. It will be a very interesting season. I will have very strong opponents, starting from my teammate who will surely be better prepared this winter. It will be important to do a good test and arrive at the first race with everything in the right place, then we will be ready to fight for victory,” Rossi added. Lorenzo revealed that he has been training harder in the off-season this year and feels more confident about the upcoming season. “This event always means a special date for all of us,” Lorenzo said who continued, “It’s the official kick off of the season and I have to say it’s usually a special moment because we can see the final project and also the new livery. I love the new bike and I’m waiting to test it as soon as possible. With this unveiling starts a new challenge, an amazing challenge. I am much more motivated than ever to start this season. I have prepared well physically and I feel good mentally too. This year we have high hopes with the new M1 because in 2014 we found at the end a good base and we could fight for the podium regularly during the second half of the season. I am convinced that this year things will change and both Yamaha and I will put all our efforts to try to achieve the goal that is simple to fight for the title. Last year many things happened but I've also learned a lot and I think we can compensate and make a great year. I’m waiting to kick off the coming season in Qatar!“ Lorenzo added. Telefónica President Luis Miguel Gilpérez said he is happy to continue with the partnership with Yamaha and revealed that in the past year they increased their number of customers from 700,000 to 2 million. He said, “We will bet for motorcycling once again in 2015 with the focus not only on our clients but also on the people who are not. We will offer them the chance to ride the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP bike, while sitting in front of their own TV’s, so they can see that we are capable of offering the best TV, the best sport and show with a new form of accessing it, from all of their devices with a multi screen option.” Yamaha racing boss Lin Jarvis is very happy to have the continued partnership with Movistar and is convinced Rossi and Lorenzo will be fighting for many victories this year. He said, “This year we have decided to present the new bike at the home of Movistar, at the Distrito Telefónica in Madrid. The “M” for Movistar on the fairings of our M1 is even bigger this year representing even greater union between us. We are once again fortunate to have two great champions in the team and two of the best riders in the world Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. Both want to achieve their goal, to win races and to win the title and I am sure they will be committed to work together as Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team Factory riders to make their bikes faster and more competitive to challenge our competitors. From our side I can assure our riders that Yamaha Motor and everybody in the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP team is committed and focused to provide them all the support they will need to achieve their and our mutual goals. I am very excited to start the new season and we are ready to challenge together for victory in 2015.” Mr Jarvis added.

FROM cigarette companies to Playboy magazine, it's fair to say that MotoGP sponsorship is as varied and colourful as some of the people who ride the bikes on a race weekend. We've been watching the winter testing closely and while we love the moody-looking carbon fairings of the test bikes, the injection of colour that comes from the MotoGP team reveals got us thinking about the best MotoGP liveries Honda RCV213V Repsol Factory TeamIf you're a bike fan like me, there's a good chance when you pass a Repsol petrol station in Spain, you automatically think of MotoGP. The partnership between the Spanish oil and gas giant and Honda has been going for 25-years and has amassed 15 rider’s championships in that time. The fact that the orange bikes have been so successful and for so long are what make this an iconic Suzuki RGV500 PepsiBack in the hazy days of two-stroke 500cc racing, the RGV500 was one of the bikes to beat on the MotoGP grid. You’ll notice this isn’t the only RGV to feature in this run down, and that’s because Suzuki had a bit of a knack of getting the sponsors decals spot on for the bike and the Honda NSR500 RothmansAs a child of the 80s, tobacco sponsorship in motorsport was what I grew up with. From F1 to MotoGP and Le Mans, it was everywhere. And it didn’t really bother me, in fact, it bothered me more when it went away and all the racing series became bland, or worse - they tried to disguise the tobacco brand they were still being paid by with camo graphics!7. KTM Tech3 Red BullYes, I know it looks like a two-wheeled Toro Rosso F1 car but, I think Tech3’s first year with KTM is going to be their best looking yet. And I used to think the old black and yellow Tech3 was great looking but there’s something about the blue/silver/orange combo that just looks LCR Honda RCV213V CastrolI remember seeing Aaron Slight hammering around Donnington on a Castrol coloured RC45 in the mid-90s and thought it was the coolest thing since popping candy was invented. The only other time I felt like that was when LCR Honda wheeled a Castrol liveried RCV out of the garage for Cal Crutchlow to race at Silverstone back in Yamaha YZR M1 Rossi Winter TestI know it’s not a race livery but come on, this is cool – or is it just me! Taking its cues from Rossi’s sun and moon helmet design, where the sun signifies the smiley side of Rossi and the moon represents the dark, the bike is highlighted by some very mid-noughties fluro-accents on the on the number-board and front mudguard. The Doctor even wheeled out some specially made leathers to match!4. Suzuki RGV500 Lucky StrikeAnother iconic paintjob brought to you by the world of tobacco, the Lucky Strike coloured two-stroke also spawned a generation of race rep RGV250s – and a pretty natty line in shell-suit paddock jackets too!3. Yamaha YZF500 Speed BlocksYou could choose any number of special Yamaha’s for this paintjob but I decided to go for probably the most well-known, Kenny Roberts on his Yamaha 500cc GP bike. Kenny also used the speedblock design on his TZ750 two-stroke flat-track bike in the Yamaha YZF M1 Petronas SRTAnother colour scheme from the incoming MotoGP season is at number two, and from another new team. Petronas SRT Sepang Racing Team launched this classy looking design last week and I for one think it looks spot on. Petronas are no stranger when it comes to getting the most out of a racing machine's paint job, they’ve been daubing their name on arguably the best looking F1 car of the last 10-years, the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Honda RCV 213 Austin PowersWhether you’re a Rossi fan or not, you can’t deny the guy and his PR team are pretty clued up when it comes to getting the VR46 brand in front of every photographer’s telephoto lens. The psychedelic also known as the Austin Powers paintjob was run at the final round of the 2003 championship in Valencia, which was also the Italian legend’s last race with livery was chosen after title sponsor Repsol ran a competition with Spanish motorcycle magazine, Motociclismo, in which readers were invited to create a paint scheme incorporating the Spanish company's logo. Rossi Honda and Repsol then chose this design from 15 shortlisted entries.
